This picture struck me, not just because it’s obviously fetching and delightful, but it provoked a flashback. As the oldest sibling I was somewhat amused and jealous by my younger sister when she was born. I imagine I saw her as part doll and part rival for my parents affections. A photo of us (I will post if I can find) shows my infant sister’s head poking out of rolled rug and me leaning down watching, appearing innocent. When in fact I’m the one that rolled her in the rug. In another photo, we are perched on our parents emerald green corduroy furniture (hey it was hip at the time!). I’m dressed cutely I must say, all bows and girly dress and all you can see of my sister is her big eyes because I poured a large, pre-Costco size container of baby powder all over her and the furniture. My mom says she had to stifle peals of laughter and wasn’t even mad at me when she walked out on the scene. Ah sisterhood!
